OCTOBER 2020

The one good thing about 2020, it's an even year so NO HYLLNINGSFEST! : )

Dancing update!
LSFD Dancers/Fiddlers:

Please find your name on the link below and make sure you show up to dance/fiddle on the dates that I have you scheduled. I made these assignments based on experience and gender, so please don't ask me if you can switch to the other group, unless you can give me a really good reason why you need to do so.

My cell number is 785-787-2684. I expect you to communicate with me anytime you'll be absent. Please don't assume I already know. Please text me right now with your name (first and last) so you have my number saved and so I have your number saved. You may also tell me in person in the office or email me.

Please remember that we'll practice in the other gym at Soderstrom so come in the back doors. And please WEAR A MASK!

If you arrive late, you'll have to knock directly on the back gym door.

I'm looking forward to dancing with you all!

Mrs. Dolezal

  1. Red Wheel! Order forms can be picked up from school in Ms. Lysell's room. You collect payment up front and all of your money and order forms are due back on October 28th!

***Count and check your orders and money THREE TIMES before you turn them back in. Make sure it adds up completely correctly! Please turn these in to Ms. Lysell and she will get them to the people in charge of that committee.

Delivery for Red Wheel is on Saturday, November 14th!

  1. Bake sale requests and sign-ups are also happening now. Please use this picture for publicity purposes on pricing. Also, PLEASE check out the Bake Sale committee page for questions you might have.

Here is a document that you need to fill out if you'd like to be asked to fill special baking orders as well: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1RCggjk7nH9G6oTG8sN_ZwTFHg7FsfqJPOZftLt7hoME/edit?usp=sharing

However, let's say your best friend wants to have you make the a tea ring to help out YOUR child. You don't have to tell them to call Molly, just simply report what you are baking for people and turn it in to her so we can keep count of special baking orders. People that want to help your child individually should not call Molly, because they will get assigned to whomever says they are willing to bake those items. Just report what you sold. I hope this makes sense.
On other random baking requests Molly will divvy it up amongst the people that sign up on the doc.

  1. I know things were a little crazy with the mums, but I think maybe with a much earlier due date and working with a greenhouse that can control the supply we might want to try it again. I also wondered what people felt about trying a poinsettia fundraiser. Please feel out this short survey and let me know.

https://forms.gle/nSGEAaqtGQV8Me1P7

Only 12 people filled out the survey, but it was overwhelmingly yes to poinsettias... SO.......

  1. They are not going to guarantee poinsettias can be delivered. We should have told them a definite number we wanted in September, but she still said it is definitely a great possibility, they just won't guarantee and we need to get our numbers in really soon. That being said, in case they don't you need to tell people upfront and ideally have them pay by check so you can just shred it if so. The earlier we get the poinsiettia orders the better. So, you have two options. 1. Make a goal of how many you will sell and turn those numbers in or 2. try to pre-sell in October poinsiettias for the Christmas season. Option 1 is what she said most people actually do.

I would like to know by October 22nd how many your family would like. She suggested keeping it simple and said the 6.5 inch is the most popular and they have the most supply of, so we'll offer that in red, white, and burgundy for $17. That is a profit of almost $7 per pot, provided we sell $1,500 total and avoid the delivery fee.

As we did for the mums, YOU print and keep your own order form, but you will input your totals into the spreadsheet below by October 22nd. You can turn money in later, but YOU are responsible for payment on what you order!

Here is an individual order form for you to download and keep track of your sales. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ST_Y_XCmed65eijQKq1a5iTm0Eay9CGkJ9JhO31XQrY/edit?usp=sharing

Here is where you will upload the poinsettia sales when you are completely done by October 22nd at 6:00PM. It will add your totals and tell you what you should turn in money wise for you.

We will know exact delivery on poinsettias when we place the order. I am shooting for Monday, November 30th as our delivery date.

6. "Treat a yard" So, this is an idea I came up with based off of a baseball fundraiser and egging peoples yards. We will only do it this year with Halloween being so different as a fun, safe alternative to trick-or-treating. You will be on your own to adminster, getting yards to "treat" buying the candy, etc... Feel free to partner up with other families if you wish. Also, please sign up on this excel sheet if you're willing to treat yards of people who might not have a specific Dancer to support and I will divvy it up as fairly as possible.

25 pieces of small Halloween candy delivered to a yard, either theirs or someone they choose for $20.

However a standard few things need to be done by all.

  1. Buy good name brand candy.

  2. People can choose to have you hide it in their yard or leave it in a baggie. I will have white bags to give you when you get a total that Monday.

  3. Have them choose chocolate, non-chocolate, or mix.

  4. Everything MUST be delivered on October 30th night or by 2:00PM on Halloween.

  5. Leave a note on the door. Use this one I created or make your own, circle at the bottom if you have hidden candy or left it in a bag and tape it to the door so they know.

  6. Keep track of your expenses and just turn in your profit to Becky Grosland.

Here is a poster you can use for promotional purposes.

Here is a sheet for you to download to keep track of the yards you're going to "treat" and remind you to ask what information you need to.

  1. Dancer practices? Still waiting to hear on when/if we will reconvene. We will keep having the fiddler practices on Wednesdays, thank you to those of you working hard on that!

Update: They've started, use the calendar to know when you're going!

  1. Please use this website as your main resource, if you have a question, need to contact someone, or know who is on what committee, it is on here already! Please use it- contact COMMITTEE members when you have a question please, not Margo!

  2. Committees that haven't been able to function like normal, I need you to get creative and ideally on your own without me having to organize it. Meats- let's try to get something going. Dala Van/Pancake committee- let's try to get two different to-go dinners planned and on the calendar very soon. Dala Van people might even be able to split into two different nights as large as it is. Merchandise is there something you can do differently right now as well to help raise some fund right now? Let me know if you have any creative ideas that we can get on the calendar and start publicizing.

The Dinner committee has now done the raffle and the mums (and Ahlstedt's), so that's what I mean when I say let's start to get a little creative. Let me know what you can come up with and lets get some dates on the calendar!

From Steve: Good afternoon everyone,

The Dala Van Committee will be conducting a spare rib (full rack) fundraiser on Saturday, 07 November 2020 from 5:00-7:00 pm. The attached advertisement will be in the Lindsborg News-Record next week to aid you in selling. If the marketing committee could please get the info out, that would be great. Also, please share with your family and friends.

We're doing St. Louis style, hickory smoked spare ribs, seasoned and lightly sauced, with the rib tips included. This is 4-5 lbs of prepared meat, and all they have to do is pay $20 per rack and pick it up between 5-7pm on Saturday, Nov 7th at the Covenant Church (102 S. Washington). Customers will use the drive thru--enter south, exit north to enforce social distancing and provide convenience.

My goal is to keep the food cost less than $12 per rack so you can maximize your profits. That's $8 per rack sold for you. Any profit from orders taken via the email address lsfd.fundraising@gmail.com will be evenly distributed amongst the organization, so get out there and SELL DEM RIBS!

As you get orders, update the spreadsheet provided at the link below and PLEASE do it early and often. The deadline for ordering is Wed, 04 NOV, but meat is a commodity so prices do change regularly. Right now I can get ribs for $1.88/lb, which is Pre-Rona pricing...the cheaper the meat, the higher the profit for YOU! If you collect money prior to 07 NOV (and please do whenever possible), it needs to be delivered to the church NLT 5:00 pm on the 7th. Brenton Anderson and I will be there all day.

Dala Van Committee members--if you are available, please sign up to assist and if not, consider donating charcoal (see tab 2 of the spreadsheet). Margo's note- committee members NEED to sign up, helping your committee is NOT an option in Dancers, it's a requirement of being in the organization.

If this works, we'll look at doing another one in December, or maybe get in on the Snowflake parade on December 5th and do something seasonally appropriate like soup/chili, coffee, hot chocolate, etc. More to follow.

Here is a jpg you can use to advertise.

Thanks for your support,

Steve Ahlstedt
