  1. From Angela Dolezal: We will be starting Swedish Dancer practice for Freshman AND Sophomore dancers and some upperclassmen on Wednesday, August 18th (HIGH SCHOOL GYM-this one Wednesday ONLY because of an open house at Soderstrom, WEAR GYM SHOES!!!!) and Wednesday, August 25th. Please check your name below to see when you need to be there. If you're on my list and you can't be there on your given night, please try switching with someone on the opposite night or get someone to be there in your place. If neither of those options work, please let me know ASAP! My phone number is 785-787-2684. Feel free to text or call as needed. *If your name isn't on the list, you're not out of the woods yet - I may contact you to sub for someone.


Regular practices for all dancers will begin on Wednesday, September 1st. All practices are from 7-8 pm and will be at Soderstrom Elementary School.

2. First Board/Family meeting will be on August 22nd, please make sure that you put this on your calendar! 3:00 Board, 4:00 Family meeting at SVHS Auditorium If you need time at this meeting, please let me know ASAP! Please use the calendar link to check the activities for the month! This meeting will be a brief full group and then more for you to split into committees to get your ducks in a row after a year and a half of not really having things be "normal" to try to get plans for the year in place. I want to see a committee guideline sheet from every committee this year. Especially if you are the only person on your committee it is really important we get the to-do steps of your group ready. Items on your agenda for your breakout.

a. Explain the purpose of your committee and how it functions, the help and expectations you have of the people on your committee.

b. Set dates/ go over tasks to be accomplished and by whom. If you do not have a committee guideline sheet done, please complete one. Some of you are on a committee by yourself, it's even more important that you do this, so we can have continuity for the next year and as a new Director takes over next year so things are very much in place.

3. Get costumes ready NOW! Hyllningsfest is rapidly approaching. Group photo is coming on September 15th at 6:30, location TBD, let me know if you have any ideas. Freshman, remember you must get costume approved by Alexa Reed, BEFORE you have it made. areed@smokyvalley.org, 785-906-0189

4. You MUST work on getting your passport NOW, 6-8 month backlog on passports, don't wait! McPherson County Courthouse was easy for us, but Ellsworth is great I hear too. Get this done and pray we get to go next summer! We are making hestitant plans that we will share with you as soon as we're a little more locked in. As I'm sure you're aware things are still very much up in the air, but we don't want to mess around with getting passports done!

If you agree to volunteer for this performance, there will hopefully be an additional bake sale that goes along with it that will be open to volunteers FIRST!
